Children are an important part of Riviera United Methodist Church. Here at Riviera, we are committed to showing each child how much God loves them. We are devoted to nurturing vital faith and fostering the spiritual lives of children and families. We offer a variety of programs each week and throughout the year providing opportunity for worship, spiritual formation and lots of fun! For more information about our ministries with children and families, please contact Dena Babb at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Sunday Mornings at Riviera
Worshiping together as a family is something we value at Riviera. On Communion Sundays, the first Sunday of the month, we do not have Sunday School in order to to allow for families and children to worship together. Activity bags are available at the entrance to the Sanctuary, and the nursery remains open for our youngest children.
On all other weeks, our children join the “grown-ups’ for the first ten minutes or so of worship, stay for a Children’s message and then head off with their Sunday School teachers for a time time of playful learning geared just for the kiddos. Through music, crafts, and fun activities, children put the weekly themes into action and learn to apply their young faith to their everyday lives.
With trained and respected teachers, a warm and welcoming environment, and structured lessons, children will not want to miss a week of Sunday School! Through storytelling, song, crafts and games, children learn about God’s love for them.
Every child ages 4 and up is invited to participate in our Children’s Choir. The choir rehearses on Sunday mornings from 11:15am-11:45am. They sing in worship once a month and also perform musical productions at Christmas and in the late Spring.
Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School is a fun-filled week of Bible stories, games, crafts, singing and silliness! It is a wonderful week of laughter and joy as children learn about God’s unconditional love for them. All children are welcome!
Join us July 24-28, 2017 for VBS: Hero Quest!
We have an excellent nursery for infants through toddlers. The nursery is staffed by a loving, trained and experienced childcare provider and several volunteers throughout the Sunday morning hours.
Family Connect is a parenting and families group for the parents of children ages 0 – 12 years old. This group was developed to promote healthy, happy and mindful families. Through a family activity, a shared meal and a time for parent discussion while children play in supervised childcare, Family Connect builds stronger families and encourages community.
Family Connect is on a Summer Break! We will resume in September! All families are welcome!
The United Methodist Church’s Safe Gatherings policies ensure that every church is a safe place where children, youth and elders may experience the abiding love of God and fellowship within the community of faith.
All of our church staff and persons working with our children and youth have completed a comprehensive background check and training to ensure that our campus and programs are safe for children. Children are our top priority and we make every effort to ensure their physical, emotional and spiritual safety while they are in our care.
