Music

Director of Music Dr. Dawn Brooks and Organist/Accompanist Anthony Lopez plan to continue the strong tradition at Riviera of classical choral and handbell music, along with the addition of exciting contemporary and gospel songs and instrumental music in the worship services.  With the pandemic on the wane, we are resuming these core elements of our celebrating the grace of God through the Arts.

Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir provides the choral music for our Sunday services, as well as special holidays and concerts throughout the year. Examples of major works performed have been Britten's Ceremony of Carols, Beethoven's Mass in C, Mendelssohn's St. Paul and Elijah, Vivaldi's Gloria, and requiems by Brahms, Durufle, Faure and Rutter.

Members of the community who are high school age and older and who enjoy singing and learning are welcome to come practice and sing with us. Soloists and supporting choir singers of all musical ranges are invited. Rehearsals are Tuesdays 7 to 8:30 pm, and the choir sings each month, and at occasional special performances.

All-Church Choir

The first Sunday of every month everyone and anyone—including children—is invited to meet in the choir room at 9:15 am to rehearse an anthem for the Worship Service.  Lend your voice and your spirit to our services! For more information about when this beloved tradition will resume, contact our Director of Music Ministries, Dawn at dawnbrooks@earthlink.net.

Handbell Choir

The Chancel Chimes consist of four and one-half octaves of Malmark Bells, three octaves of Malmark Chimes, and twelve players. The music, ranging from classical to modern, is chosen to complement the Sunday service message and the season.

Members of the community who feel inspired to make music with handbells and chimes are invited to explore joining this group. Rehearsals are Sunday mornings following Worship. The Chancel Chimes play once a month during the worship service and at holidays and concerts throughout the year.
