Join us Sunday evenings 6:15 - 8:15 in the Downstairs Youth Lounge. This fall we're discussing "The Gospel According to the Simpsons." And don't forget UMYF Cafe, Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m.

Here are a few special events and key dates to note:

Sunday, Dec. 7 Tree Trimming and Advent Festival
3-6 p.m.

Come help hang the greens and decorate the 12-foot tree in the Narthex during the Advent Festival. This is a youth project and it is always lots of fun. Includes dinner...angel hair pasta!

Sunday, Dec. 14 Progressive Dinner and Caroling
4-8 p.m.

We'll spread some Christmas cheer to homebound members of our congregation and then continue home-to-home in a progressive dinner. Appetizers are at the Attigs', dinner at the Townes', and dessert at the Paulsens'.

January 23-25 Winter Retreat at Camp Wrightwood

Our theme this year will be "Totally Twisted Priorities!" We will reconsider our own life priorites as we study what the book of Ecclesiastes has to say about what's really important in life. This winter we are returning to Camp Wrightwood, a camp run by the United Methodist Church, tucked away in the small town of Wrightwood in the San Gabriel Mountains.

A $100 registration fee includes transportation, meals at camp, and lodging (in cabins). Please bring additional money with you for dinner on the way up. Our tradition is to stop and In-N-Out Burger. You must complete and return the permission slip and the health/medical form with your payment (check payable to RUMC) no later than Sunday January 4, 2009.

January 31 Loaves and Fishes Meal
February 1 Superbowl Party
3-6 p.m.
February 14-16 Youth Alive

Once again, the Senior High youth of the United Methodist Church are gathering over Presidents' Weekend to discover how they can be disciples of Jesus Christ. This amazing retreat at the Riverside Convention Center is called "Youth Alive."

The 2009 theme is "Diakonos: How May I Serve You?" Diakonos is a Greek word used in the New Testament that means "service." The event will have all of the great things you've come to expect: amazing music (worship bands), challenging workshops and Bible studies, inspiring worship and speakers, and great friends/good times. More information can be found in this brochure.

Youth must currently be enrolled in grades 9 through 12. The cost ranges from $215 for four people per room to $250 for two people per room, which includes all lodging for two nights and some meals. Registrations are due in the RUMC church office by December 15. Please let Lynn know if you plan to attend or have any questions. Don't miss out!
